About Vestro

We host and operate MetaTrader 5 so that software developers do not have to run Windows.

Why it exists

MetaTrader 5 is a Windows desktop application, and the official Python library only works on the same machine as a running copy of it.

For anyone who writes code on macOS or Linux, or deploys to a container, that is a wall. The usual workaround is renting a Windows VPS, connecting to it over remote desktop, and keeping a graphical application alive on it indefinitely. It is fragile, it is nobody's idea of infrastructure, and it is the reason a lot of people give up on the idea entirely.

Vestro moves that machine somewhere managed and puts an HTTP interface in front of it, so the software you write can live wherever you already run software.

What we run

Each customer gets a dedicated Linux instance. On it we install and maintain a pinned build of the MetaTrader 5 terminal under Wine, a headless display, an encrypted credential store, and our own bridge process that exposes the terminal over a local interface.

Our edge exposes that as a REST API, a WebSocket stream, webhooks, and an MCP server. We publish open-source client libraries for Python, Node and Go. We monitor the terminal with a semantic health check rather than a process check, so a frozen application is detected and restarted rather than reported as healthy.

Customers who already own a suitable Linux machine can install the same software on it themselves with a single command, at a lower price. In that case we host nothing and provide software, updates and support only.

The part we are proud of

Every request carries a reference the customer chooses.

If a connection drops before a reply arrives, the same request can be sent again and we check the terminal for that reference before submitting anything. The customer gets the original result back, marked as a repeat, rather than the same instruction being carried out twice.

Networks fail, processes restart, and code retries. Building the system so that a repeat is always safe removes an entire category of bug that people would otherwise have to handle themselves, usually badly, usually after it has already cost them something.

Who uses it

Software developers and technically minded individuals who write their own code, mostly on macOS or Linux, and want it running somewhere reliable rather than on a laptop that has to stay open. They subscribe monthly by card and can cancel from the dashboard.

What we charge

A flat monthly subscription for a server and a software licence.

PlanPrice
Hosted$29 per month, managed server included
Bring your own server$24 per month, software and support only

There are no transaction fees, no revenue share, no commission and no volume pricing. A customer making one request a month and a customer making a million pay the same $29. We charge for compute and software, as any hosting provider does.

Scope of the service

We host and operate software. Instructions sent through our API are carried out by the customer's own service provider, with whom we hold no relationship and no account. We do not handle money, hold funds, advise on their use, or act as an intermediary of any kind. Customers arrive with an account they already hold and connect it using their own credentials.

Security and data

Credentials for the terminal are encrypted with a key held separately from our database, stored on the instance that runs it, and decrypted only in memory while it is in use. They are never written to logs, and on the bring-your-own-server plan they never leave the customer's machine.

We store account identifiers, subscription status, server health and a log of API requests. Records belonging to the customer's own provider are read live when requested rather than mirrored, so our database is never a source of truth for anything financial.

Company

Vestro is an independent software company. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by or partnered with MetaQuotes Software Corp. MetaTrader is their trademark, referred to here only to describe compatibility.
